A Potted History of the House
Dippersmoor is a Manor House dating back to the early 15th Century. There is evidence of a Pele tower which puts the house’s origins even earlier to medieval times. It is a fascinating combination of early Elizabethan, Tudor, Jacobean and 19th century styles.
The house and surrounding countryside is described in one of the ghost stories by the renowned writer and academic M R James who often visited Dippersmoor in the 1920’s.
Many of the downstairs rooms are panelled and guests have exclusive use of the oak panelled drawing room with its cosy atmosphere, huge open fireplace and comfy sofas. Guests also have use of the oak beamed dining room which used to be an old bacon curing room.
